　この半年余りの間に増えた結晶コレクションを整理しました。

コンドロダイト（Chondrodite)　

　コンドロダイトはヒューマイト（ヒューム）石との間に連続した固容体を成すヒューム石族の鉱物で広域 （接触） 変成作用を受けた炭酸塩岩石脈中に生成されます。
　このグループではパミール山脈とタンザニア産の斜ヒューム石が唯一の宝石質の結晶として稀に研磨されます。
　世界的に稀な鉱物ですが、近年ビルマのモゴクの結晶大理石中にコンドロダイトが発見されます。

Chondrodite is a mineral, belonging to clinohumite group mineral and is found in contact and regionally metamorphosed carbonate rocks. Among humite group minerals, only clinohumite from Pamir Mtn. and Tanzania produce rare gem quality crystal. Recently, Mogok, Burma has become known as producer of chondrodite in crystalized marble.

燐灰石 （Apatite）

　どのような産状なのか不明ですが、モロッコのアトラス山からは宝石にカットしたいような明るいレモンイエローの燐灰石が採れます。
Although detailed occurence is not known, apatite crystal from Atlas Mtn. Morocco has nice lemon yellow color, suitable for facetting as gem stone.

アリゾナ産珪孔雀石 （Chrysocolla from Arizona, U.S.A.)

　アメリカのアリゾナ州各地からは銅イオンによる発色の大変美しい色珪孔雀石が採れます。
珪孔雀石そのものは脆く柔らかいので宝石には向きません。　
　1997年、レイに近いアサルコ鉱山から見事な多孔質の玉髄や石英の微小な結晶に空色の珪孔雀石が染み込んだ珪孔雀石が産出し宝飾品に使われました。

Arizona State, U.S.A. is renowened for cupper-ion colored chrysocolla. Chrysocolla itself is a soft and crumbly mineral and is not suitable as gemstone. But in late 1997, the Asarco mine, near Ray, Arizona produced some fabulous pieces of drusy quartz on chrysocolla and chrysocolla-stained chalcedony.

　ユージアル石 （Eudialyte)

　ユージアル石は霞石閃長岩ペグマタイト中に産する複雑な成分のジルコニウム珪酸塩鉱物です。
ロシア、コラ半島のヒビーヌイ高地やカナダのモン・サンチレールのペグマタイト等、産地は世界に数えるほどしかありませんが、宝石質のユージアル石を産するのはカナダ、ケベック州のキパワ川流域のシェフィールド湖付近です。
　写真のファセットされたものは20年ほど昔に入手したものです。
この宝石質の結晶がどのような産状なのか長い間母岩付きの結晶を探していましたが、今回ようやく入手しました。
　宝石質のユージアル石の結晶が母岩のアグレル石に納まっています。
アグレル石はキパワ川流域特産の鉱物ですがヒビーヌイ山地やタジキスタンからも発見されます。
紫外線により綺麗な赤紫の蛍光を発します。

　Eudialyte is a magmatic origin mineral found in nepheline syenite and their pegmatites. Khibiny massif, Kola Penisula, Russia and Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada are know for excellent crystals. Sheffield lake in Kipawa basin, Quebec, Canada is the only one locality to produce gem quality crystal of eudialyte. For 20 years, I have been looking for gem eudialyte crystal, which finally was found in agrellite. Agrellite floresces brigt pink under UV light.

青いスピネル結晶（Blue spinel crystal）

パキスタンやアフガニスタンからは大理石結晶に包まれたスピネルの見事な結晶が発見されますが、
今回、目の覚めるような青い色のスピネル結晶を入手しました。
　透明でもなく、また結晶形もはっきりとはしていませんが、しかしこれほど鮮やかな青いスピネルは初めてです。
　こうなると、何時の日かこんな色の透明な宝石質の結晶を手に入れることが次の目標になります。

Spectacular spinel crystals in marble are often found from Pakistan and Afghanistan. But spinel crystals in such bright blue color of the photo has never been encountered. This crystal is not transparent nor has clear crystal shape. But I fixed as the next target to obtain gemmy crystal having this bright blue color.

灰電気石（Uvite）

　灰電気石は比較的に稀な種類の電気石でその名はお茶で有名なスリランカのウヴァ地方に由来する命名です。
　ウヴァ産の褐色の宝石質の水磨礫の結晶は稀にコレクター向けにファセット・カットされます。
結晶としてはブラジル、バイア州のブルマードの菱苦土石を伴う暗緑、時に暗赤色の結晶が有名です。
　今回珍しいビルマのモゴク産の緑色の結晶と共にブルマード産の暗赤色と緑の母岩付き結晶を入手しました。

Uvite is a rare tourmaline specy, which originally discovered from Uva, Srilanka. Water worn brown crystal from Uva is rarely facetted for gem collectors. Brumado, Bahia, Brazil is famous for dark green and rare dark reddish brown spectacular uvite crystals in magnesite. I had an opportunity to obtain both red and green uvite from Brumado, together with green uvite crystal from Mogok, Burma.

スペインの蛍石 （Fluorite from Spain）

　 近年中国各地から次々と新産地が登場し、人気もまた値段もうなぎのぼりなのが蛍石です。　
スペイン、アストゥーリアス地方にはかつて鉛や亜鉛の鉱山が多数あり、見事な蛍石の結晶を産したものですが、今日これらの鉱山の殆どが閉山されてしまいました。
　写真の蛍石結晶は、数年前にラ・コリャーダ鉱山に最後に発見された晶洞からまとまって採れた蛍石です。無骨な形ですが、何よりもその大きさと色合いと透明度とで貴重な標本です。　
　輸送途中で投げられたりして無数の劈開片になってしまっては台無しですから 12kg もある結晶を自らかついでスペインから持ち帰ったのは良い思い出になりました。
　実物大の写真を入れようと思いましたが 15 インチの画面に入りきらないので縮小しました。

　China has recently became the significant fluorite producer with varieties of colors and crystal shapes to blast fluorite popularity in mineral collectors. Spain has once an important fluorite producer from various metal mines in Asturias regions.
Today, almost all mines were closed. La Collada mine has produced significant fluorite crystals from the last pocket discovered end of 1990's. A huge specimen of the photo is that last discovery. I have a good memory to have bring it back on my own shoulder from Spain, in order to keep this crystal unbroken.
I tried to insert actual size photo, in vain. It is too big fro 15" screen.
