酸化珪素という単純でありふれた組成の結晶である水晶は地球上の至る所で発見されます。
単純な組成ではありますが、驚くほどの多彩な姿や色合いで楽しませてくれる水晶はまた、多産故の手ごろな価格で何処の鉱物フェアでも最も人気のある鉱物でもあります。
初心者から年季の入った鉱物コレクターまで、水晶こそは究極の鉱物と言っても過言ではないでしょう。
この１年余りいつの間にか増えてしまった様々な水晶の標本をまとめてみました。
Quartz is one of the most abundant mineral because of sinple and abundant composition, resulting in surprisingly variations in colors, shapes and sizes. Therefor, quartz is the most popular mineral at any mineral fairs in the world for entire collectors.
Thus my quartz collections are increasing every year : Here are new commers since past one year.
ロシア・ダルネゴルスクの水晶 (Quartz from Dal'negorsk, Russia)
この標本は大小併せて7個の結晶が平行連晶として両端を持つ一つの結晶群を成しています。
どういうわけか水晶の平行連晶には妙に心をそそられので、こういう標本を見かけると嬉しくなります。
他の標本も同様ですが水晶なら手ごろな価格でためらうことなく衝動買いで入手出来るのが何よりです。
This specimen consists of seven crystals in different sizes and forms one cluster of doubly terminated parallel intergrowth, my favorite crystal form !90x38x35mm Nikolaevsky mine, Dal'negorsk, Russia 一般の水晶は低温型と呼ばれ573℃以下で晶出したものですが、573℃以上870℃以下で結晶した水晶は高温型、或いはベータ水晶と呼ばれ柱面が殆どなく錐面のみで常に両端を持つ結晶として発見されます。
X線による分析では結晶が出来た後に温度が下がって原子の配列は低温型に変わっていますが外形は高温型が保たれています。
一般に5〜10mmの小さな結晶が大半ですがダルネゴルスクからは不透明ですが時に5cmに達する見事な結晶が採れます。
ベータ水晶(ß Quartz) 43x35x20mm

Rock crystal is generally found as low-temperature type, which crystalized under 573℃, while there exixt rare high-temperature type(ß-quartz) crystal, crystalized between 573℃ and 870℃, which is found as di-pyramid shape without prismatic face. Although X-ray analysis shows that atomic arrangement has been turned to be low-temperature type, during cooling process, external shape is kept as hig-type. Dal'negorsk , Russia is known as a locality of exceptional big, well-formed ß-quartz crystal.
南アフリカの水晶 (South African Quartz)
初めはサボテン水晶として名高いものです。
一旦晶出した紫水晶の表面を後に出来た無数の小さな紫水晶が覆ってシャンデリアのようにきらきらと煌いているもの。
決して珍しくはありませんが、しかし華麗な標本です。
次は同じく南アフリカのオレンジ川流域で最近発見された産地の煙水晶です。
良質の標本産地が採掘の困難なアルプス等に限られていて高価な煙水晶でしたが、手ごろな値段の産地の出現は嬉しいニュースです。Cactus Amethyst 77mm

Two quartz crystals from South Africa ; First is a famous cactus amethyst from Boekenhouthoek. Pst-crystalized micro amethyst cover the entire amethyst and glitters like chan delier. This kind is not rare one but exciting.
2nd is a new discovery of smoky quartz along Orange River. It is well appreciated the easy-mining locality, since former quality smoky quartz are mainly mine from harsh Alpine veins.

中国の水晶
この標本では水晶よりはむしろ平板状の赤鉄鉱が主役ですが、しかし水晶の脇役があってこそ主役が引き立つと言うわけです。
何時ものことながら中国産の標本は正確な産地が不明です。
鉱物フェアで同じ産地の標本が何組かの中国商人から出品されていましたが、産地の表示がなかったり、あってもまちまちです。
儲けのためなら何でも扱う。たまたまそれが鉱物標本であったと言うわけで, 産地表示には無関心、扱いも乱暴で結晶が傷ついても無頓着の全くの素人が続々進出してきているようです。
無限の可能性を秘めた中国の鉱物を正しく扱える専門家の出現を祈るのみです。
Quartz from China
This hematite specimen would have been far less attractive without quartz decoration. Unfortunately, the exact locality is unknow as are often cases of Chines minerals. Chinese merchants are, in general not mineral specialist at all. They handle mineral speciments as one of the money making merchandise. They do not care locality nor packing, in general. Let's hope, serious mineral specialist come soon.
パキスタンの水晶
ファーデン水晶と並び緑色の水晶もパキスタンの特産物です。表面だけでなく水晶の内部にもぎっしり詰まっている苔状のこの緑色の正体は何なのか ？ 恐らく緑泥石 ?

Together with Faden-Quartz、this green moss quatz may be unique from Pakistan. But what is this green moss, covering not only the surface but fill entire quarts crystal ? Chlorite ?
ブラジルの水晶
ごくありふれたバイア産の水晶です。1個300円と言う値段なので、愛らしい姿手に取ったまま思わず衝動買いしてしまいます。
大きな結晶の根元の結晶群には小さいながら両端付きやずんぐりした平板結晶など多彩な姿が見られ、時々手にとっては楽しく眺め回しています。

Common quartz from Bahia, Brazil. Small clusters surrounding the bottom of long crystal include varieties of crystals ; doubly terminated crystals, short and flat crystals etc. etc
