中国の螢石（Chinese Fluorite）

　 　近年中国産の螢石が怒涛の如く市場に流れ込んでいます。
　その多くが中国南部のタングステン、アンチモン,錫等の鉱山からのものです。
素晴らしく美しい結晶標本が多いのですが,しかし宝石質の大きく透明な結晶はなかなか見当たりません。
　したがってカットされた石を見かけることはありませんでしたが、今回ようやく大きく透明なルースに遭遇しました。
　湖南省産とのみあります。　湖南省でこのような淡緑の螢石を産するのは香花嶺 (Xianghualing) 鉱山とその近くの香花鋪 (Xianghuapu) 鉱山あるいは東山 (Dongshan) 鉱山のいずれかと見当をつけています。


　The Chinese fluorite specimens dominate mineral markets, for their varieties, volume and by quality, in recent years. Most of them come from Tungsten, Antimon, and Tin mines of Southern China. Despite varieties of colorful specimens, cuttable crystals with sufficient transparency and volumes are relatively rare. And faceted Chines fluorites are among the rarest. Finally I have encountered one from Hunan, China. This pale green stone is, great probably from Xianghualing or nearby Xianghuapu, or Dongshan mine, in Hunan Province.

イギリス・コンウォールの螢石（Fluorite from Cornwall, UK）

　 イギリス南西部のカンブリア山脈とコーンウォール半島には数百の銀,銅,鉛、亜鉛等の鉱物資源が存在します。
　ローマ人がはるばるとこの辺境の地を支配したのは、その豊かな鉱物資源を手に入れるためであったことは間違いありません。
　螢石はこれらの金属鉱床に脈石として生成する鉱物ですから、イギリスは世界で有数の螢石の産地でもありました。

　There are several hundreds of silver, copper, zinc, lead and tin mines in Cambria Mountains and Corwall Province in South Western part of United Kingdom. These mines have been developed since old time, some of them in B.C. Romans coloniarized Briatania certainly in order to govern rich mineral resources. And fluorite is commonly find as a bi-product of heavy minerals, United Kingdom is the most important fluorite propducer, too.

二色の螢石　(Bi-color Fluorite)

41.27ct 29.8x16.5mm 産地不明（Locality Unknown）

　 この螢石は多色に見えますが、実は殆ど無色と淡い朱色との二色です。
濃い褐色に見える部分は陰によるものです。
　産地は不明ですが、この、螢石としては余り見かけない色合いは、かつて入手した南アフリカ産によく似ています。
　恐らく同じ産地かと思われます。　しかしパキスタンやメキシコの可能性もあります。

　This fluorite looks like a multi color through photograph, but actually is a bi-color stone with almost colorless part and pale peach color. Although locality is unknown, this unique pale peach tone reminds me of the South African stone I have obtained in the past. However, it might come from Pakistan or Mexico, too.
